Boo Perry Cafeteria

Please join me in the revolt against what is now called "The Marketplace at Perry Cafeteria." The old Perry we all knew and loved is no more- it's now run by money-mongers with no heart. Above is a picture with food you will never see at "The Marketplace at Perry."

So here's the biz... I took my students on a Field Trip today (that is so weird to think that I was in charge of a Field Trip) to the Drama Festival at MSU. So naturally, we ate at the Perry Cafeteria. First of all, it is worthy of note to know that I contacted Dining Services yesterday to find out how much it would be. I was told we could get a group rate since we were a high school group.

WELL. When my kids got to the cash register, they were told it would be $7.99 for lunch. That is $8.55 after tax. So let me recount:
Lunch at MSU is $8.55
I am outraged.

Upon arriving home, I have e-mailed Dining Services, Robert "Doc" Fogelsong, Dr. Phil Bonfant (Head of Admissions) and the Aramark Corporation.

I am asking all of my reader to unite and please complain as well. I just want my voice heard. And to give all my sweet students some money back. Geez Louise, fo real that is way too expensive for a Lunch. We could have eaten cheaper at Harveys. (NOTE: my computer is stuck on bold. I have tried everything).

Lost Update

We are absolutely, 100% addicted.

I know we're pretty much discovering this gem 3 years after everyone else, but thanks to the sweet new Blockbuster deal, our eyes have been opened.

Tonight, we begin disc 3, episode 9 of season 1. Can't wait.


One last thing: Cyber Monday. It apparently is the web shoppers dream come true. There is Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving where all the stores have sales, but now that internet purchases are big, there is now Cyber Monday. TODAY is Cyber Monday. Go to www.cybermonday.com for tons of deals. However, most of you will read this after the day is over, so just keep it in mind for next year.

Big News of the Blockbuster Variety

For those of you who like us, don't subscribe to cable television (thus saving anywhere from $40-$60 a month), have I got news for you.

Blockbuster now has this incredible deal where most movies are only 99 cents and here's the kicker: you can rent one disc at a time of television series for 99 cents as well. So we can now "Get our LOST on" anytime we want, uninterrupted with commercials, one disc at a time (a mere 4 episodes) for only 99 cents.

Neither Caleb nor myself have ever seen "LOST" so that was our natural choice, and let me tell you.... we are hooked. That is the best dang show. We quickly watched all four episodes of season one disc one last night (yes we watched it for 4 straight hours) and we are going back for discs two and three tonight (yes that will be 8 straight hours.... we don't care.... we're getting our LOST on). We will hopefully pause from our LOST viewings at 8pm tomorrow night to catch what looks to be like a very intense Desperate Housewives.

Oh- I just took a Desperate Housewives Quiz about "which housewife I am" and it turned out that I am Bree, which totally makes sense due to my phenomenal abilities to whip up such desserts as the infamous razz-a-matazz and now the Holiday Tradition of Amazing Cake.

One last thing, we don't have cable, but we do have some high-power rabbit ears that pick up ABC 33/40 from Birmingham, AL. Since our choices for news is WCBI (agh!) or WTVA (horrors!) we now watch the Birmingham channel (shout-out to Brenda Ladun!)
Anyway, Natalee Holloway is from Birmingham, so of course the news station would be following the story closely. Well to my surprise, they SENT A REPORTER to ARUBA! I quit the Biz too early! 33/40 sent a reporter to Aruba, as if CNN reporters weren't getting the inside scoop. Is it just me or is that crazy! OK, that's all for now.

Being on vacation is already taking a toll on my eating habits. Ever since I started teaching (read: Gone back to High School), I've lost down within 2 pounds of my HS weight (bring on the 2-piece dresses and one shoulder shirts!.... syke). I guess being back on the same schedule is the key. But now, back at home, where I am basically laying on the couch and watching TV ALL DAY, I have reverted back to my old eating habits.

For example, for breakfast this morning: sugar cookie dough, eaten with a spoon and the roll, while sitting on the couch watching the Today Show, and chased with sour gummy worms purchased late last night at the CVS Pharmacy. This cannot be good.

In other news, I am enjoying my week off and am happy to be blogging. I can't think of much to write about though. Mr. Wipple died yesterday and that is sad. Here are the things I'm looking forward to for the rest of the week:

1) Lunch with my friend Sonya today at noon. Haven't seen her in fo-eva and that is terrible. Luckily, we will get to catch up over lunch.
2) I'm getting my haircut! Hooray! For those of you who haven't seen me lately, I look like a hippie.
3) The making of "Amazing Cake" which is my Thanksgiving Special. There is no other way to describe this cake other than amazing (thus the name). It is 100% made from scratch and I embrace my inner-granniness to bake it.
4) My Nana's stuffing. I salivate all year thinking about it. I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!
5) Getting to see all my family while I stuff my face with turkey, stuffing and the bleu cheese biscuits (an entire stick of butter is used which = absolute goodness).
6) THE EGG BOWL! Several friends will be in town which should add a an extra umph of glee.
