America's Junior Miss

I "kind of" am on the PR Committee for America's Junior Miss program, which oddly enough is held in Mobile every year. I loved being in Starkville's Junior Miss program and thought it would be fun to help out. The Finals are Saturday night and I was going to help send out press releases, but I'll be in Starkvill instead. So I kind of helped out by taking some girls to their radio interview. I had Miss Oregan and Miss South Dakota and they are two really cool girls! Here's a pic of them during their radio interview at Power 88:

Green shirt is Courtney, Miss Oregan and red shirt is Anna, Miss South Dakota. Courtney's talent is Irish Dancing. I find this to be very interesting. She's going to Harvard this Fall. Geez.

It was fun sitting in during the radio interview time. I listen to Power 88 everyday and it's hard to imagine it's just that guy in a small room talking into a mike. I thought about giving him a list of songs I would like to hear on my way home from work, but reminded myself that I'm just the Driver- don't meddle, Trish!

After work today we're packing up and heading to Starkville for a four-day weekend! Hooray!

I am officially Famous.

I have unofficially moved myself to celebrity status thanks to the fact that I was RECOGNIZED in Sam's this past weekend. Caleb and I were eating an early dinner at Sam's courtesy of the free samples when we heard a voice behind us. Here is a transcript of what followed:

Voice: "Can I ask you guys a random questions?"
Tricia (turning around, ready to field a question about the cheese we were analyzing): "Sure!"
Girl: "Are you Tricia from the Blog?"
Me (eyes lighting up, realizing this dumb blog has propelled me to stardom): "Yes, and this is Caleb!"

Ok, I'm tired of doing the narration thing, so here's what happened: this girl just happens to be a super-nice person who came across our blog via Laura Tomlinson's blog. She is not at all stalkery and I'm really glad she introduced herself to us! The only beef I have is that she didn't leave a comment that one time I was trying to beat Laura Tomlinson in the readership competition! Her readership went unaccounted for! Haha, just kidding, LT still beat me by a ton, so it wouldn't have mattered. I am really glad to know I have a new friend in Mobile!

Moving on to other exciting events from this weekend, Caleb's parents made the trip down to Mobile Thursday night to hang out with us, and we really enjoyed it. I had to work Friday, but it was still great to visit with them for a little bit, plus PJ Joey really did need to meet her
Grand-dog parents.

Sunday, we crashed the annual Bousson Family Beach Trip. Fairy Godmother #1 scored some points by getting a lot of one on one time with Kate. She had the CUTEST bathing suit on! It was searsucker with smocked whales on it. Sometimes I worry that I want a baby just so I have an excuse to buy cute baby clothes..... Kate is so adorable I can't even stand it! And it was wonderful getting to sit on the beach and catch up with Boo Boo and see the whole clan.

That is all for now.

I'm such a wimp.

I had a routine physical this morning. There was nothing routine about it, however.

1. I thought I had a tumor on my right hand middle finger. Nope, it's a wart. The Doc freezed it right off. This means I have had a wart for over three years now. How did I get it? No frogs have peed on my hands lately that I know of.

2. I had to get a shot. Typically I freak, but I handled it quite nicely and it didn't even hurt. Everything was good until I settled the bill and then passed out in the middle of the hallway. Yep, passed dead out. I woke up in a room, laying down with wet compresses on my forehead and neck. Very embarrassing.

So that's the story of my physical this morning. Other than my wimp diagnosis, I am in overall good health.

And lastly, I took some baby bump pics for my co-worker/friend and put them on the photography website. Click here if you want to view.

Bay Bears and a Hall of Famer!

For Caleb's birthday, we went to see a Bay Bears game, which is a nice little stadium and the weather was perfect (odd for summer in Mobile). Caleb got an added bonus when he found out we were playing the Smokies. Their coach (manager? is that what they call them?) is Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg. That's him in the next picture, number 23. I didn't quite understand the significance of this until the game ended and Caleb decided we should "run" all the way to the visitor's side of the ballpark to stalk Sandberg for an autograph.

Here we are at 10:30 at night stalking the Smokies' team bus. The other guys milling around are also after the coveted signature. Caleb had no pen and just a slip of paper for Ryne to sign, but he was very gungho that this would work out.

Sandberg waved as he walked from the locker room to the bus. He didn't stop for celebrity time. We stood out there an hour and a half after the game. We were bummed, as you can see in the next pic.

But all in all, I had a lot of fun at the game and I hope Caleb did too! I'm game for going back sometime.
Here's another updated picture of PJ Joey. I swear she grows three inches everyday. She is the best dog, by the way! I taught her how to "high five" in only TWO tries! Granted, she still pees on the floor sometimes, but high-fiving after only two times is pretty brilliant, I think.

I love her so much!

Happy Birthday Caleb!

Hooray for June 12, the day the world was introduced to Charles Caleb. A man of many talents, from perfecting the arabesque to conquering Year One of Med School, Caleb is another year older.

Happy Birthday Caleb! You are a great Husband to me and Father to PJ Joey! (hehehehe- he hates it when I treat the dog like a child). Thanks for working so hard, budgeting so wisely, always scratching my back, and all the many many things you do!

Camp Butts

This week while her parents are out of town, Rosie Pennington is attending Camp Butts. She is having a ton of fun. This is what our back room (a.k.a. Caleb's Study) looks like. Too bad you can't smell through blog posts, because let me tell you, this room reeks!

PJ Joey never sits or sleeps in her bed so Rosie has pretty much taken it over, which drives PJ Joey insane. They are pretty much like real kids. They fight over toys, etc.

Here's an updated pic of PJ Joey and Caleb's foot. Isn't she getting so big!!? She's glaring at Rosie for taking over the bed she never used.

In other news, Dad gave me small summer squash and zucchini transplants to plant at our new house. They are BOOMING! Ironically, I was reading an old Southern Living and came across a squash and zucchini casserole- perfect timing! I can't wait for these little veggies to hatch!

Lastly, I walked outside this morning for a little joggy-jog and guess what swooped down right in front of me? A BLUE BIRD! I didn't think those were real- I thought they were made up for that movie where they sing "Zippity- Doo-Da" I chased it around the neighborhood with Caleb's camera trying to document it (meanwhile freaking out small children that stood in my way), but alas, the beautiful bird was too swift. I am on high alert though- I hope it nests at Camp Butts!

Photo Shoot

I'll be in Starkville on Saturday, June 27 if anyone wants some updated family pictures taken. Plan for it to take about an hour and it will be outside. It's free to friends- I just want the practice! Let me know if you're interested! To see website, click here.

Brandi Carlisle!

Best concert ever.
I'm just now posting the pics, but about two weeks ago we saw Brandi Carlisle and the twins, Tim and Phil. Caleb and I decided we like Phil more because he really gets into it with his facial expressions (go back-up singers go!)

Her voice is just amazing, period. Even Caleb had a great time even though he was one of few in the male category. Well, there were quite a lot of ladies that looked like men, if you catch my drift. Anyway, here's some pics of the evening.
Tim and Brandi in a guitar-off!
Opening Act: Gregory Alan Ivakov. Love him.
One of the few couples there with a recognized marriage license.
Coming up soon: Update pics of the bear that lives with us. PJ Joey is getting pretty big!

Flea Update

We just bought the mother of all vacuums and it is really setting Team Flea back. Team Butts will prevail!

I am OBSESSED with sucking up every single one of my little arch-nemesis' into our new Bissel, which has DUAL cyclonic cylinders as well as 12 amps of power, multiple hose attachments, and a hepa filter. LOVE IT. It sure beats the tiny dorm vac I've been using since my freshman year of college. During the initial sweep of the house, the filter was completely filled with dirt, grime and fleas. How disgusting! I had been sweating the lb's off with the little vacuum, which apparently wasn't doing a whole lot.

But obsessed I am- that's for sure. Last night at 11:30 when all was settled in the house, I walked into the hallway to get stuff out of the dryer, when I noticed a few fleas on the hardwood floor. I think they were fleeing (HA!) the bedrooms where Mr. Bissel had gone to town. Despite the fact that it was almost midnight, I said, "Game on Fleas" and starting Mr. Bissel back up. I will win this.
