Pranking Fun

In college, for some reason, we thought it was fun to throw raw hot dogs at people's faces. It wasn't to be mean, I promise. Once you had been chosen to be the target for the hot dog assault, you were then invited to join in on the next prank, so our group grew exponentially. Well, we had fun anyway, so much that Caleb and I introduced the launching raw hot dogs at people game into our new circle of friends here in Mobile. It is so much fun.

Casey is such a good sport, and is honored that he is now initiated into the group. Next time we throw raw hot dogs at someone, he gets to come. Geez we are so weird.

THE OFFICE RETURNS!!!

A pretty large crew from Caleb's class got together to watch it on TiVo at 9:30 pm, but I couldn't stand to be at home and wait until then so I watched it at 8 and at 9:30. A double dose of The Office can heal all ailments. At the party I was warned that there better not be any "pre-laughing" since I knew when funny parts were coming up.

My plan was to dress up as characters after reading LT's blog, but Caleb didn't go for it. I thought he could be Andy and I could be Kevin. (Spoiler Alert!) And is it weird that I feel like one of my own friend's just got engaged even though Jim and Pam are fictional characters? Ahhhh, I love it so much!

It's Official!

I officially am about to re-enter the workforce! It's been a slow two months and I'm ready to be slaving away once more:) But seriously, my new job title is "Educational Recruiter" for ITT-Tech in Mobile. I may love it, I may hate it, but it pays money and I like to eat, so we're good.

Wow did God hear your prayers! Thanks to each of you who said a little prayer for my job situation! Two big things happened in less than 24 hours of the prayer request post!

First of all, I'm pretty sure I was offered a position I applied for a while back. The voicemail the lady left said: "I'm touching base with you about coming to work for us." I'm analyzing that to mean that they are ready to hire me. It is for an Educational Recruiter position and I'll be talking with the lady more today hopefully.

Secondly, this morning I got a call asking me to be a Project Coordinator for the St. Louis PowerPlant project this summer in July! I was (and still am) completely blown away! I'll be in charge of a lot of big stuff leading up to the project, then of course handling everything at the project itself. Most importantly, I get to be involved with another developing church which is the most fun thing of all.

SO... I just wanted to let everyone know just how important your prayers are and that they were heard. I know that God does not always give us what we want when we ask for it, but I hope this serves as some type of encouragement for you, no matter what you're going through right now. Of course I have been praying about my job situation for a while now, but I was not expecting the PowerPlant aspect- what a blessing and honor. Thank you again for praying for me.

New Addiction and Prayer Request

New Addiction: Scrapblog

I can't stop! You can make your own scrapbook with all the nifty little cut-outs and cool paper things that you would spend a lot of money on in the store For Free! The website is about to add a way to print it out into an actual scrapbook, and that is when I'm afraid I'm really going to go nuts on it. I've spent more than a few hours working on a scrapbook on 2008 which I'll try to put on here when I'm done.

Tied in with my addiction is the ongoing job search. I've been able to substitute teach a little bit, but I really am wanting a full-time job. I'm just not getting a lot of feedback from anything and it's very discouraging. It's been quite cushy sitting at home all day, but I can only scrapblog for so long! I would really appreciate any prayers for this- that the Lord will place me right where He wants me and also that I will be patient. Thank you so much!

In other news, Caleb is doing really really great in Med School. He brought home a human head (skeleton) in a gallon-sized ziploc last week. I'm not allowed to post pictures on the blog says he. It's for studying purposes, but I think it's also to ick out spouses or any guests visiting your home. We call him Little Timmy Jangles.

And finally, I leave you with this. My Dad recently told Caleb that he thinks James Carville looks like that creepy thing on Lord of the Rings. In class yesterday, he and his friend Stephen proved this theory. I think it's pretty funny.

A New Time Waster

I found this baby name's website where future parents can create polls if they are trying to decide what to name their baby, but want to bounce it off people (strangers, really). I don't know why I love voting on all these baby name polls, but it is so fun! Some of the names are so terrible and you can leave a comment saying so.

My Best Friend's Wedding

M.B. and Jay got hitched this weekend and what a fun time we all had! She had the reception at her home in Oneonta and it was gorgeous. I think my favorite thing she did though was her veil- it was one of those old-timey classic short netting veils that just covers her eyes-something only Mary Brittain could pull off.

I didn't take any pics but her wedding photographers were amazing and I'm copying and pasting some of their pictures from their blog onto mine. Is that illegal? I'm giving them the credit....

Victory is mine!

I did something yesterday I am quite proud of: I confronted a Wal-Mart Associate over 39 cents.
It all began as I was sauntering down the cereal aisle, dripping in sweat from the run I had just finished and looking like a beast. I picked up the cheap/bland cereal Caleb likes and then grabbed the cheap/bland cereal I eat everyday. Then what to my wondering eye should appear?

My cereal is 1.98 and Honey Bunches of Oats was on sale for 1.88. This NEVER happens. I tossed my regular cereal box to the floor in elation and grabbed the Honey Bunches of Oats and made my way to the cashier, a pep in my step.

Well, she rang up the HBoO for 2.24. I didn't realize it until she had completely rung me up and handed me the receipt. I very timidly asked her if the price was correct on the cereal and she gave me a look that said, "Girl (imagine the head bob and finger snap), I'm not re-ringing you up so get out my line..." Feeling defeated, I made my way to my car, head down, shoulders sagging.

But then, I lifted my chin, raised my fist to the sky and proclaimed in my head, "NO! The price on the shelf sticker said 1.88 and by golly that is how much I want to pay for it!" I never treat myself to the good cereal and I don't want to think about the dang 39 cents every morning when I eat it.

So I marched back in, waited in the Customer Service line and got my 39 cents back. Theo the Associate was very nice about it, and we talked about the economy and how important every penny is while he printed out about 17 receipts for me to sign.

The whole thing was very silly, I know, but if their inconvenience of having to give me 39 cents back forces them to correct the scanners at the cashier line, then I have won. At any rate, I feel like a powerful force who will not be reckoned with.

Starkville Weekend

One of my greatest friends, Lindsey, is getting married in October so our little posse met up in Starkville for a bridal shower and tailgate. Even though I've only been in Mobile for 5 weeks, it was still so much fun to be back in Starkville and it was sad Caleb couldn't come on the trip (boo studying!). I got to go with my Dad to the game which was fun and see so many friendly faces at church. The whole weekend was just grand. Oh and this next picture is my Dad harvesting some fresh crops to send home with me. I've got just about a bushel of string beans in a grocery sack and pretty excited about it...

Gustav Can't Stop This Party! a.k.a. Mary Brittain's Bachelorette Weekend

My "Forever Friend" is getting hitched in two weeks and we celebrated at the beach in Gulf Shores this weekend. We did leave a day early (thanks Mandatory Evacuations....) but we squeezed three days of fun into two with no problems.

We went to the Flora-Bama to dance the night away and laugh at all the creeps trying to get one last chance at Mary Brittain before she gets married. Don't worry Jay- this winner has nothing on you.... Jill's face is priceless!
The band quit playing around 3:30 in the AM. When was the last time I stayed up that late? Can't even remember. Oh but fun was had. Love you Mary Brittain! Your party was a blast!
