A Grand Christmas

This year, we decided to take it easy before getting on the road and travelling to all the different family Christmas gatherings. Since I am a government employee, we are privvy to great rates during odd times of the year at places like The Grand Hotel and Resort in Point Clear. It is Marriot's #1 rated hotel and spa in the world and we stayed there before Christmas to trade our gifts and relax.

I was shocked to see the huge room we got! It was a suite!

We participated in High Tea at 4pm with hot chocolate and gourmet cookies. I dropped one of my cookies on the floor and still ate it.
Very foggy sunset over the Bay.
After the sunset, we sat around a fire pit and chatted with some Snow Birds from Minnesota for two hours. They were really nice and have kids our age.
Then, we went to our favorite restaurant, Guido's, for our annual company Christmas Party (Caleb is the Chief Financial Officer for Betty Donne Photography.... haha!)
Downtown Fairhope lights... every single branch in every single tree. It is glorious.
After our spectacular dinner, we went back to our room and opened presents. Not too long after that, I began having the worst stomach cramps of my life and... well.... it was none too pretty.

Initially, I blamed my dinner (bread, stuffed mushrooms as an app, then mashed potatoes, vegetables, and fish baked in a crab butter sauce).

Then, I remembered that earlier in the day, I ate a cookie off the FLOOR, so it's really hard to pinpoint the exact source of my illness. Despite all that, it was probably one of our best days ever!
