I remember we were in Colorado at a conference when Caleb got the phone call saying he had made it into Medical School. That was four years ago, and in many ways it seems like those years have gone by really fast. I guess that's easy for me to say since I wasn't the one studying for Boards in the wee hours of the night.
I still tell everyone that Med School is awesome because all I've had to do with it is attend Prom every year, haha. It's been tough.
So last weekend was IT. Friday night was a big ceremony just for the College of Medicine where they took the Oath and were hooded. All our family (34 total) came down for this ceremony and to thank them for all their love and support over the years, we hosted a seafood buffet at one of our favorite restaurants, Wintzells. There was an entire tray of cheese grits and I was in heaven.
Warning, what follows is a ridiculous amount of pictures.
I'm kind of obsessed with my dress.
After dinner, everyone caravanned to campus for the ceremony. To our delight, Dr. Butts won an award. Here's proof:
It's given to a student who shows good communication with patients. The faculty laughed that Caleb received this award because normally surgeons aren't known for having good doctor-patient communication skills. Go Caleb!
Here he is on the jumbo-tron. I may have been a little camera snap-happy throughout this entire weekend.
On to the hooding.... each student got to pick who hooded them, and Caleb let me have the honor. I would have never talked to him again if he hadn't picked me, so smooth move on his part.
You can tell I am eating this moment up and cheesing hard for the professional photographer. I think Caleb is a little suspicious that I'm trying to steal the spotlight. Maybe I am.... have you seen my dress?
Our Med School besties, Katie and Gib. They have already moved to Ohio. SSSAAAAAAADDDDDDDD!
And here is another friend/family photo montage. We really were so honored to have everyone there.
And finally, the actual graduation. A huge BOO to the University of South Alabama for holding one giant graduation. Sorry folks, but I didn't really care to see the nine thousand bachelor degree holders walk across the stage.
And here it is....
4 years.
A ton of student loans.
Countless hours late at night studying.
Step One (enough said right there).
8,000 miles for residency interviews.
Step Two (also enough said right there).
He is a Doctor!
The diploma is HUGE!
We'll probably hang it on our front door instead of a wreath.
And this is going to be the last post of Two Crazy Butts. I'm not deleting the blog entirely just in case I want to ever pick it back up, but for now, this is our blog good bye.
What a nice post to end on, though:)

So proud of you and Dr Butts! I know how hard it is to have a spouse in school, and yall did it with ease and grace (from the outside, of course :)
You made it!

P.S. If you close down the blog, I expect weekly email updates. Thats all.
Congratulations to both of y'all! All the pictures are great and I know you are so proud! And glad to see that dress on because I saw a pic on a FB page and wondered how it would look - super cute :)
And sad that the blog is ending, maybe you could check in every 4-5 months :).
I hope you are planning on starting a new blog! I love reading about your life. I miss you, TL!
Congrats to Caleb! So happy for the both of you! As to the blog, I am sad! How am I going to keep up with you now?
TREEESH!
Don't leave us. I am so behind on blog reading that I am just now reading this.
Couple of things: Yay for the doc. (obviously)
But the real show-stopper is, in fact, your dress. Dear goodness I love it. You are turning in to such a fashionista and it makes this real friend real proud.
love you!
A) That orange dress is ROCKING.
B) I miss your blog already. Please do not give up on us (your blog readers)! It's how I keep up with your life!
C) I wanted to cry when I saw Caleb's award said "plans to stay in Alabama for residency"... because usually residents stay where they are. Some crazy part of me thinks that I will see y'all more often if you live in Mississippi...
D) I AM SO PROUD OF YOU CALEB! BOTH OF YOU, FOR THAT MATTER! What a huge accomplishment. So exciting!
