YES! Did you know that tickets to be a part of the studio audience for the Letterman Show go 2 years in advance? Well, we signed up to get standby tickets and they called Caleb today- he had to answer a trivia question, he answered correctly, and BOOM! We're going to Letterman!
I think it is a very good sign that he answered the trivia right since the whole reason we're going to NYC is for him to audition for Who Wants to be a Millionaire. We are off to a good start!
So please watch for us in the audience this next Tuesday night: June 10, 2008!
Here's our estimated itinerary:
June 9:
-Fly in to NYC
-walk around the city, get cheap Broadway tickets at the TKTS Booth on Times Square
-Caleb auditions for Who Wants to be a Millionaire
-Broadway Show
June 10:
-Today Show (we are making a sign if you want to watch for us then too)
-Yankee Stadium Tour
-David Letterman
-Dinner (Little Italy perhaps?)
-Broadway Show
June 11:
-Fly back to MS

I got our hotel room for the trip on Hotwire.com. I had never heard of this before but came upon it by chance. It was very scary, but every decent hotel (affordable) was booked and all that was left was hostels where we would have to share a bathroom with the whole hotel floor.... eek! And those rooms still cost $100! All the other hotels in the city were $300 plus and hotels in New Jersey were all booked. Well on Hotwire.com you find the quality hotel you are looking for, then the website shows you the around about location and price and you can book it, BUT:
1. You have no idea what hotel you are getting
2. There is no backing out- nonrefundable.
It was very scary, but I found a 3 and a half star hotel for $95 a night and decided to pay for it even though I didn't know what hotel it was! Pretty stupid, I know, but it seems to have worked out ok. It turns out to be a Sheraton and rooms typically go for $329 a night. I called the Sheraton and they confirmed the reservation, so I think we're good.... (sigh of relief!)

EXCITING....good luck Caleb!! Please keep us posted on how it goes. Caleb would definitely give them the entertainment and he is super smart, so he's got my vote!! :)
BTW - pretty good with recent celebrity trivia...but I'm not so sure that I would make a good lifeline...I'd probably freak out and not be any help
Hope y'all have fun! And good luck to Caleb!
please wear Mississippi State shirts on Letterman and the Today Show...i think that is a sure-fire way to get on camera!
HILARIOUS. I miss daily blogging. my mom called me and told me about caleb and the interview. I laughed. PLEASE GET ON THE SHOW, BUTTS. Trey wants me to tell you to tell him to wear a bow-tie. That should do it. Either that or the missisippi map t-shirt trey has.
LOVE it. and love you.
obviously i mean the millionaire interview.
blog late, i know.
if it's the sheraton in times square then it is very nice.
