Our toes never touched sand, but we made up for it in food.
February means it's PAOF Conference Time! This is the one weekend of medical school where their little spirits are lifted a little and they catch a glimpse of the good life at the end of the tunnel.
There are hospital recruiters from rural towns all across Alabama who WANT YOU (you as in doctors) and they entice these little medical students with a lot of really great food. I just love to tag along.
Here we are outside of Louisiana Lagniappe which was my second dinner of the night. Recruiters asked to take us out to dinner and we said YES, don't mind if we do!
Back at the hotel, we joined our friends for some Catch Phrase. Every other time I've played this game, I have DOMINATED it. So I pretty much thought I was King of this game and all around unstoppable. And then I played with med students and realized being the dumbest in the room also means I'm not so quick with the Catch Phrase. SO SAD! It's much easier on the ego to play with high school students, haha.
Look how blissful Caleb looks here.... no books in sight, just his friends in a free hotel room, playing Catch Phrase... it's the good life.
So last weekend, the weather was FREEZING! It was too cold to even go out on the beach. Now, 6 days later, it's over 80 degrees outside. In our house, days like this mark the wonderful transition of PJ Joey going from a hyper dog to a lazy dog.
When it's cold outside, she bounds around like she owns the place... she's full of energy and just a handful. Then, the hot weather strikes, and all she does is lay like a dead bug in the middle of the floor.
When this happened last year, we took her to our Vet-Friend because we thought she was sick. Nope, just super lazy. We love Lazy PJ.
So today it was randomly HOT outside, and when we got home from our walk, she took about three steps inside and then collapsed. Trust me, she's not dead. Just Lazy PJ.
Anyway, I painted it white over Mardi Gras which means I did in fact accomplish one whole item on my Mardi Gras Week Extravaganza Checklist.

The other things on my checklist that I wanted to accomplish ranged from grading all the narrative essays from 4 weeks ago (egads- those are STILL sitting on my desk at school... not graded) and I also had grand plans of planting flowers in huge pots and ultimately creating a beautiful porch. Obviously, this hasn't happened since we still have our sneakers that mildewed in Tropical Storm Lee "drying" by the front door.
Med School Prom is this weekend! So excited!
